ATV Rider Thrown from Vehicle

An ATV rider is hospitalized after he lost control, was ejected and crashed into a tree.

Arlyn Jonathan, 34, of Shanks Road, Alabama was driving the ATV at around 1 a.m. Thursday on Meadsville Road. Deputies say “unsafe speed” was a factor in the crash, but it appears no citations were issued.

Jonathan suffered two broken legs and was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC.


Hilton Man Facing Four Charges from Traffic Stop in Bergen

52-year-old Larry Charles Bayles, of Hilton, is facing four charges after being pulled over in Bergen.

Bayles was originally cited for driving 56 in a 40 mile per hour zone when Genesee County Sheriffs discovered that he was also consuming an alcoholic beverage while driving as well as being in possession of more than 400 untaxed cigarettes and marijuana.

Bayles is due in court on August 7.


Seven Men, Including 4 Teens, Face Charges Stemming from Underage Drinking Party

Four men were arrested following a criminal mischief complaint that occurred at Quiet Times Golf Course in the Town of Bennington.

The four subjects had destroyed several mailboxes, taken and destroyed flags and caused damage to the greens with the flags, while unsuccessfully attempting to take golf carts.

One male, age 17 of Batavia, was taken into custody on charges of Criminal Mischief, Attempted Petit Larceny, Conspiracy and Obstructing Governmental Administration for running from police. He was arraigned in town court and sent to Wyoming County Jail on $2,000 bail.

Further investigation led to charges led to charges against three other Batavia teens. An 18-year-old male and two 16-year-olds were also charged with Criminal Mischief, Attempted Petit Larceny and Conspiracy and given appearance tickets.

The complaint had stemmed from a large underage drinking party that also took place at a residence down the street from the golf course. All four teenagers had attended the party prior to their alleged crimes.

Wyoming County Sheriffs, New York State Troopers and the Attica Police Department executed a search warrant and made several arrests.

33 people under the age of 21 were found drinking at the house, while 6 were under 17. Children as young as 15 years old were also being served alcohol.

Deputies also found marijuana, cocaine, hydrocodone, a hypodermic syringe and precursors to a meth lab.

Residents of the house, 44-year-old Robert Plowe and 22 year-old Mathew Sheffield were arrested and charged with Unlawfully Dealing Alcohol to Persons under 21, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Nuisance, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Hypodermic Needle, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. Both were arraigned in the Town of Bennington Court and sent to Wyoming County Jail on $8,000 cash bail.

20-year-old John Laude, of Akron, was also arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance for possessing cocaine. He was sent to jail on $6,000 cash bail.

All 7 men are scheduled to return to the Town of Bennington Court on August 12 for further proceedings.
