A child sex abuse arrest leads to animal abuse charges.
When State Police went to arrest 23-year-old Robert DeCarr of Gainesville, Wyoming County, they noticed three emaciated and diseased puppies and one deceased one on the porch of his residence.
DeCarr and roommate, 20-year-old Thomas Hyde, also of Gainesville, were arrested and charged with Cruelty to Animals and Neglect of Animals.
DeCarr is charged with two counts of sex abuse along with endangering the welfare of a child. Troopers say he allegedly sexually abused a 9-year-old girl in 2006 and a 13-year-old girl in May of this year and attempted to inappropriately touch an 11-year-old girl in May. He was jailed on $50,000 bail.
Hyde, on the animal abuse charges, was released on appearance tickets.
The puppies were taken to the Perry Veterinary Clinic. Authorities says it’s “unclear” if the puppies will survive their injuries.
