The Village of Oakfield has a new mayor.
Trustee Jeremy Yasses was appointed this week by the board after Richard Pasteki resigned to become the new zoning enforcement officer.
Yasses says this is a good arrangement for Oakfield.
“We do foresee some great changes coming with the STAMP plant moving forward,” Yasses said, “and we need an enhanced position in the zoning officer category and the past mayor took that upon himself to tackle that.”
Yasses’s title carries the interim tag before the November elections.
“As long as all our colleagues keep working hard," he said, "it really doesn’t matter who’s the mayor or who’s on the board as long as we’re doing what’s right for the village.”
Yasses says Pasteki was instrumental in getting the water tower. He says the village plans to upgrade its sewer as it prepares for the STAMP project.
