It’s become a case of “he said, she said.”
Only in this case, the “He” is a Batavia Police Officer.
41-year-old Suzanne Corona appeared in Batavia City Court today. She was answering to charges of public lewdness and adultery stemming from an incident Friday night.
In a news conference yesterday, Batavia Police Officer Eric Hill said that Justin Amend's "pants were down," went the arresting officer approached him and Corona "engaging in sexual intercourse on a public table in Farrall Park."
Today, Suzanne Corona told a different version of the story outside City Court.
"We were not naked on a picnic table," said Corona. "We were sitting there on the bench - fully clothed. His pants were on, my clothing was on. There was kissing...but that's it. His genitals were not exposed."
But later, Corona seemed to contradict herself:
"It was a sexual act," she admits. "His genitals were exposed, perhaps, by the zipper, but that's it. No one would see that."
Following those statements, Suzanne Corona strolled into Batavia City Court, her husband Joseph at her side. Corona did not enter a plea to the charges – she plans to challenge the constitutionality of the adultery charge.
Husband Joseph, meanwhile, says he’ll stand by his wife.
"Of course I'm hurt by all this," Joseph Corona said, "but I've got forty-some more years to spend with my wife. I'm not going to throw it away over one incident. It's something that's going to pass, and life is going to go on and it's going to be forgotten. I'm going to love her and spend the rest of my life with her."
Suzanne Corona will re-appear in city court on June 22nd.
Meanwhile, the man involved in the alleged affair, 29-year-old Justin Amend of Oakfield, did not enter any plea today on the charge of public lewdness. He is due back in court on June 30th.
