Three Medina teenagers are facing criminal charges following a high-speed police chase from OrleansCounty into the city of Batavia.
16-year-old Angel Calderon, 17-year-old Treyvon Johnson and 18-year-old Syed Baity are jailed without bail pending a court appearance tomorrow. They are charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Obstruction of Governmental Administration.
The chase of a suspected stolen red pick-up truck began around 9 last night.
A witness in Elba spotted the pick-up racing south on Route 98 into the city. Speeds reached an estimated 70 miles per hour.
Deputy Matt Fleming attempted a traffic stop but the car took off, hopping a curb by the Hess Mart, striking a pole there and speeding through city streets.
The car then came to rest after hitting a fence in the front yard at 9 Buxton Avenue. The teens fled on foot, but were taken into custody soon thereafter.
One police officer suffered a minor knee injury during the foot chase.
Calderon, the alleged driver of the stolen vehicle, is also charged with Reckless Endangerment and Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer, as well as 33 vehicle and seven traffic violations. Baity was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
