Three men are in custody following a high speed police chase from Orleans County into the city of Batavia.
The chase began around 9 last night with a report of a possible stolen red pick-up truck in Albion.
A witness in Elba saw a truck race by heading south on Route 98 into the city.
The truck was involved in a couple of crashes before it finally came to a stop on Buxton Street.
Two were arrested on Buxton, another suspect fled and was arrested following a brief foot chase. 
BPD Sgt. Dan Coffey said the three would likely face criminal charges for fleeing from officers. There would also be , "multiple, at the very least" Vehicle and Traffic charges.  
One police officer suffered a minor knee injury during the foot chase.
The names of the suspects have not yet been released.

 
A Batavia man has been sentenced to 100 years in state prison for sexually abusing two young girls in Ontario County.
42-year-old Michael Lewis was convicted in April of abusing the girls, sisters, who were 12 and 14 at the time. They testified at trial.
Ontario County Court Judge Frederick Reed described Lewis as a “freak” and “narcissist” who deserved the maximum sentence.

An Albion construction company has been awarded a $932,000 contract to expand and relocate the aircraft tie-down lot at the Genesee County airport.
The work is seen as a prelude to the eventual replacement of the airport terminal building.
The FAA will absorb 90 percent of the cost.
Also last night the legislature approved a contract with the Genesee ARC to provide transportation services for handicapped pre-school children.
The contract is worth an estimated $250,000.

Genesee County is under a Flash Flood watch from this afternoon through tomorrow.
The watch extends to most of central and western New York. 
One to two inches of rain is possible with higher localized amounts.

A note for Batavia motorists:
South Swan Street and Vernon Avenue will be closed at times today for road paving.  
Residents are asked not to park on the road. 
Officials say property owners will have limited acccess to their homes during the construction. All other traffic is asked to avoid South Swan and Vernon.
