On the heels of one economic blow in Albion, another Orleans County community is facing a serious job loss.
The BernzOmatic Company in Medina has announced it is closing by the middle of next year, eliminating 174 local jobs.
The company says it is moving operations to a plant in Wisconsin that can do the same work and save on shipping costs.
Some Medina workers will be eligible to transfer to Wisconsin.
Just two weeks ago, JP Morgan Chase announced it was closing its mortgage service center in Albion putting 400 people out of work.
The Zac Brown Band draws thousands to Darien Lake it also nets lawmen a string of arrests.
Eight were arrested at last night’s concert for trespassing or disorderly conduct. Another 30 concert goers were arrested for underage drinking.
The Batavia City Council is meeting tonight.
Council is holding a Conference Session, no binding votes are taken.
The public can still address the council at the outset of the meeting by first signing in with the city clerk.
The meeting begins at 7 tonight in City Hall.
New York Senator Chuck Schumer is furious at Russia for allowing Edward Snowden to have safe passage into that country. Schumer says Vladamir Putin's actions will hurt relations between the two countries. Schumer went on to say that Snowden is "no hero" and should not be compared to civil rights activists who acted in civil disobedience.
He says Putin had to approve Snowden's arrival into Russia and did so deliberately.
Snowden is now reported to be on his way to Cuba.
It appears that New York State and Canada are closer to a deal on the future of the Peace Bridge.
Governor Cuomo and the Canadian ambassador met for several hours on Saturday, and no agreement was reached.
However, both sides say they are moving closer to a resolution to the ongoing dispute.
