It’s time for professional baseball in Batavia. The Muckdogs’ season kicks off tonight in Auburn.
“Those are the rivals: Auburn and Batavia,” third-year play-by-play broadcaster Matthew Coller said. “Batavia came down to the very last game of the season last year between Auburn and Batavia for who would make the playoffs and Auburn ended up going to the postseason and not the Muckdogs. Hopefully we can get back at them this year.”
The Muckdogs are kicking off a new affiliation agreement with the Miami Marlins after 6 years with the St. Louis Cardinals. Matthew says that’s something to look forward to.
“(The Marlins) have not been the best team in the Major Leagues this year, but they’re rebuilding through their minor league system which I think can really benefit Batavia.”
You catch almost all home games as well as road games in Auburn and Jamestown right here on WBTA all season long through the beginning of September.
The broadcast tonight with Matthew and our own Wayne Fuller starts at about 7.
Tomorrow at 7, the Muckdogs play at Dwyer Stadium in its home opener, also broadcast here on WBTA and live on WBTAi.com.
