Highway death in the Orleans County Town of Carlton.
25-year-old Jessica Artica of Lyndonville was killed when her vehicle crossed into the path of a dump truck.
The fatal crash happened late yesterday morning at the intersection of Oak Orchard Road and the Roosevelt Highway in Carlton.
Authorities at the scene said Jessica was pregnant.
No charges were placed against the driver of the truck.
Deputies said that neither excessive speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash.
Deputies did say it was possible Jessica believed the intersection was a four way stop.

Although they had nothing to do with its passage and no control over its repeal, members of the Batavia City Council had  to go on record with their view of New York’s SAFE Act.
Council voted 7 to 2 last night to support repeal of the state’s controversial gun control law.
Voting against the measure in favor of repealing the SAFE act were Ward Councilmen Patti Pacino and Pier Cippolone. Neither one was specific in their opposition
Pacino: "Repeal is too big for me. I would rather change it a little bit but I'm not going to fight that battle here."
Cipollone: "I do not agree with an outright repeal. There's some good and some bad in (the SAFE ACT) and we need to work on the bad and leave the good."  
Last month, the Genesee county legislature voted unanimously to support repeal of the SAFE Act.
Critics of the law charge that the bill was hastily drafted and infringes upon constitutional rights guaranteed by the second amendment.

In Wyoming County, A Perry man has been jailed for allegedly punching out two police officers who were attempting to place him under arrest.
32-year-old Kenneth King of Coe Road, Perry, is facing charges of assault, felony drunk driving and other charges for throwing two closed fist punches at a Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputy and an off-duty State Parks Police Officer.
King is locked up in the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of 20-thosuand dollars bail.

Also from Wyoming County, 21-year-old Michael Hill Junior of Silver Springs has been jailed on a variety of charges following an incident of domestic violence.
Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies say Hill threatened to kill his girlfriend while slamming a large screen television set to the floor. Hill also allegedly blocked his girlfriend and young child in a bedroom and would not let them leave.

U.S. House Speaker John Boehner is coming back to Western New York to help raise money for Congressman Chris Collins.  
Boehner will be headlining a pair of August fund raising events in Hamburg to help Collins in his 2014 reelection effort.  

Senator Chuck Schumer is optimistic that the 400 workers at a JP Morgan Chase mortgage call center in Albion who are losing their jobs will find work quickly.  Schumer says Claims Recovery Financial Services is considering hiring some of the soon to be unemployed workers at their two Orleans County locations.
