A Stafford woman has accepted a plea deal related to receiving improper benefits from the County Department of Social Services.
26-year-old Stacy Patterson appeared in County Court Monday where she pleaded guilty to a felony count of Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the first degree. She was originally charged in January with four counts of that same charge, plus a felony count of grand larceny.
An investigation revealed that Patterson submitted forms between October 2010 and October 2011 to the Department of Social Services to receive benefits, but failed to report her husband’s wages from employment.
Patterson will be disqualified from receiving food stamp benefits and be required to pay back $6,184 in restitution. She faces up to six months in prison and sentencing is scheduled for July 15.
