Genesee Community College's Board of Trustees approved a more than $38 million budget for the upcoming year at its regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
The budget must now be approved by the Genesee County Legislature, sponsor of the College and the State University of New York.
The budget includes a tuition increase for full-time students of $75 per semester, raising tuition to $1,850 dollars per semester. Tuition for part-time students will increase by $5 per credit hour.
The college will not make any new staffing hires, or eliminate any positions, either. The budget is an increase of 2.7 percent from this current school year’s.
GCC has also requested a $100,000 increase in sponsor support from the Genesee County Legislature, bringing the county's contribution to over $2 million, or 5.3 percent of the total budget.
