In his first public appearance since being found guilty of murdering Joseph Benaquist, Scott Doll was back at the Genesee County Courts facility this afternoon.
Doll was arraigned on a charge of promoting prison contraband, after his alleged failed attempt to sneak a powdery white substance into the County Jail. He pleaded not guilty.
Doll was shackled at the hands, wearing orange jail fatigues. His hair appeared unkempt.
Joseph Benaquist’s girlfriend sat in the gallery, her eyes trained on Scott Doll. Doll made only passing glances at the gallery, never acknowledging her presence.
Judge Robert Balbick denied Doll any bail on the contraband charge, as Doll is currently incarcerated and not legally entitled to bail.
Doll will re-appear in City Court on June 29th. Attorneys for both sides hope lab results will have returned on that white substance.
Doll is still scheduled to be sentenced for 2nd-degree murder on July 2nd.
