The driver of one of the cars was arrested for drunk driving following an accident at the intersection of Park Road and Route 63 in the Town of Batavia early this morning. 38 year old Sondra Olcott of Weber Avenue in Oakfield was charged with DWI and following too closely after her Jeep Suburban struck another vehicle in the rear. Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies say a suburban type vehicle being driven by 34 year old J.A. Kwiatrowski of the Gillate Road in Alexander was waiting at the light waiting to turn left when her vehicle was struck by Olcott’s vehicle. Kwiatrowski was taken to UMMC complaining of neck injuries. A passenger in her car was not injured.
Two Batavia women were arrested on charges of second degree harassment following an incident on Friday night on Central Avenue.
30 year old Nefetiria Turner and 19 year old Laqueasha Taylor both of Pringle Avenue were arrested after they were reported to be in an altercation near the corner of Pringle Avenue and Central Avenue. Both will be in city court on Tuesday to answer to the charges.
It looks like it will be a another good day in the Genesee County weather wise today. The forecast is calling for sunny skies with increasing clouds and a high of 70 degrees. A little rain is in the forecast for overnight. Saturday, the mercury climbed to 68 degrees under mostly sunny skies. The low yesterday of 36 made the average temperature 52 and that’s about a degree warmer than normal for April 27th.
Two arrests for marijuana possession over the week-end by county Sheriff’s Deputies. 19 year old Ramel Askew of the Batavia Stafford Town Line Road was found to be in possession of pot at the College Village Dorms. 18 year old Clinton Sundown of the Skye Road in Basom was found to be in possession of the drug after a one vehicle accident. He allegedly was possessing three individually packaged bags of marijuana at the time of the accident.
39 year old Julie Wallace of Ellicott Place in Batavia has been charged with Petit Larceny. Sheriff’s Deputies say Wallace was observed stealing nearly fourty dollars in merchandise from the Batavia K-Mart. Wallace had been an employee of the store and was on duty at the time of the petit larceny.
Two women were arrested for shoplifting a the Batavia Target Store,
22 year old Michele Difalco of West Main Street in Batavia and 27 year old Melissa Morton of the West Middlebury Road in Bethany were both charged with Petit Larceny. Morton was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was found to be in possession of numerous pills containing a controlled substance. Morton is in jail with bail set at 500 dollars. Difalco was released on her own recognizance.
Two Batavia men were arrested for shoplifting from K-Mart. 29 year old Peter Ayala the third and 33 year old Jamie Ayala both of Wood Street in Batavia were arrested for allegedly taking about 72 dollars worth of merchandise from the store.
Boeing officials are confirming to the NYPD that the plane wreckage found this week near Ground Zero is from a Boeing 767. Part of the landing gear for what's believed to be one of the 9-11 hijacked planes was discovered wedged between two buildings on Park Place on Wednesday. Investigators are trying to determine if the wreckage had been placed in an 18 inch space after the 9-11 attacks.
