The new City of Batavia school budget will result in a two percent tax rate increase.
According to the Daily News, the board adopted a 2013-14 budget of almost $42 million – about 5 percent more than the current year.
The District did not receive any increase in state aid but was still able to keep several programs for students, such as music.
A public hearing on the budget is scheduled for May 14 at 7 at the high school’s library at 260 State Street. Residents will then get to vote on the budget May 21.
