A High Wind Watch has been posted for Genesee County.
The Watch remains in effect until tomorrow evening.
The National Weather Service is predicting southwest winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour across Western New York.
Wind gusts could top 60 miles per hour.
Batavia Police today trying to find out who called in a bomb threat to Batavia Middle School.
The 800 students and staff were placed into a lock-down yesterday afternoon while police and a bomb sniffing dog searched the building.
The lock-down lasted for about an hour.
Parents were notified via the schools telephone messaging system. A letter was also sent home with students.
Dailey admitted the bombings in Boston this week added an additional urgency to the local situation.
In Chautauqua County it’s a case of double murder.
Authorities discovered the bodies of a man and a woman in a home in the town of Carroll. The deaths of the two unidentified victims have been deemed a homicide by Chautauqua County Sheriff Joe Gerace. The bodies have been taken to Erie County Medical Center for autopsies.
Genesee Community College contributes mightily to the local economy, $169-million a year.Dr. Kjell Christopherson is president of the company that conducted the latest study into the economic impact of GCC.
He said between regional spending by former students, the college itself and out-of-area students, the impact is substantial.
Christophersen says that in his experience about 60 to 70 percent of students at community colleges stay in the region.
