Genesee County is currently under several weather watches and advisories from the National Weather Service in Buffalo due to the excessive rain in the region.
A Freezing Rain Advisory expires at 6 tonight. NWS warns of slick roads and walkways.
A Flood Watch is also in effect until tomorrow at 5 pm. NWS says numerous waves of moderate to heavy rain will fall across the region and that runoff from the excessive rain of 2 to 3 inches could result in minor flooding. Small streams and creeks could also experience flooding.
Tomorrow at 11 p.m. through 8 a.m. Sunday, a River Flood Watch will be initiated for the Oatka Creek at Garbutt where mild flooding is forecasted by NWS. It says the Oatka Creek is expected to crest near 6.3 feet by Saturday morning and agricultural lands could be affected. Other River Flood Warnings in the area include Black Creek at Churchville and Ellicott Creek below Williamsville.
Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center reports several roads in Alexander are closed or partially closed: Dorman, Creek, Peaviner, and Old Creek Road.
As always, we have live and local radar on the front page of our website as well as weather reports every half hour on the air. NWS says to never drive your car through flooded roadways because the water can be deeper than it appears.
