Batavia now has an Assistant Chief of Police.

25-year veteran of the City of Batavia Police Department Robb Yaeger’s appointment will be official Sunday.

City Council approved the position as part of the upcoming budget agreement.

Yaeger’s responsibilities will include acting in the capacity of the Chief of Police when necessary, overseeing and directing the duties and functions of the Road Patrol section of the Police Department, as well as assisting the Chief with day-to-day managerial functions of the department.

There are other changes in the Police Department: Officer Chris Camp was promoted to Sergeant following the retirements of Lts. James Henning and Eugene Jankowski and Sgt. John Peck.

Officer Eric Bolles will be promoted April 7 to fill the sergeant position vacated by Yaeger’s promotion.
