It is Easter Sunday and the weather is going to be a bit iffy. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies today with a little rain beginning in the late morning. The high for today is expected to be 49 degrees. Yesterday the high in Batavia was 53 degrees, only the fifth day in March to reach the 50 degree mark. The warmest day was March 10th when the high was 65 degrees. The coldest temperature for Batavia was 18 degrees on March 14th and 18th. Overall our average high for March 40 degrees and the low 27 with just today to go as tomorrow is April first.
New York City's Easter Parade takes place this morning along Fifth Avenue from 49th to 57th Streets. The march is expected to include various Easter Bonnets, flowers and pets in costumes. The parade is expected to last from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. One of the prime viewing areas is said to be outside St. Patrick's Cathedral.
A traffic stop on route 77 in the Town of Pembroke on Friday evening resulted in the arrest of the two occupants of the car. A car driven by 29 year old Christopher Saddler of West State Street in Albion was stopped and the driver was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana which was found in an ash tray in the vehicle.
Saddler was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of the vehicle. A passenger, 21 year old Jessica Forrester of Erie Street in Albion was found to have marijuana concealed in a sweat shirt. Saddler was arraigned in Town of Pembroke court and remanded to the custody of the Sheriff’s department in lieu of 250 dollars bail. Forrester was given an appearance ticket.
57 year old Emma Brinkman of Sunset Parkway in Oakfield has been charged with petit larceny. She wa found to be in possession of nearly 85 dollars in merchandise allegedly taken from the Batavia K-Mart. She was apprehended by store personnel.
Two persons have been arrested this week-end on bench warrants. 26 year old Raymond Amaro of Washington Avenue was arrested at his home on the warrant for violation of probation. He is in jail with bail set at 50 thousand dollars for an appearance Monday in Batavia Town Court.
33 year old Lisa Metcalf of the Batavia-Oakfield Town Line road was arrested on a warrant for Criminal Possession of stolen property. She’s in jail with bail set at 250 dollars.
Genesee County Democrats are looking for a few good women and men to run for public office this November.
