Press release from the Genesee ARC
Genesee ARC self-advocates Laura Mroz, Amber Stoller and Josh Derrick met with Assemblyman Steve Hawley earlier this week to thank him for his support of disability services agencies in the proposed New York State Budget.
Members of the Assembly and Senate have restored $120 million in Medicaid funding in their budget versions, but as negotiations continue, full restoration is in jeopardy. Lobbying efforts are now focused on the Governor’s office.
Laura, Amber and Josh traveled by bus to the state capitol with representatives of nine other NYSARC Chapters, who are members of the Finger Lake Collaborative. While in Albany, they also participated in a vigil with hundreds of other self-advocates and staff outside of the Governor’s office.
