The Batavia boys basketball team plays it s state semifinal game tonight against Watervliet out of Albany County at 8:30. WBTA will be live from Glens Falls for play-by-play coverage of the game.

Coach Buddy Brasky says the Blue Devils will be going up against two Division I-caliber guards who normally average a combined 45 points per game.

“Just like Olean [Batavia’s last opponent] had two kids who averaged 40 a game combined, our goal is to keep them in the low 30s," Brask said. "If we can do that, I think we can be right there.”

Anytime a team advances this far in the postseason, it’s for a good reason. Brasky says the Cannoneers are experienced and talented.

“They’re going to be very tough to stop," he said. "They lost in the state finals last year by a point, so they have most of their team back, and they’ve won three straight sectional championships, so they’re a good team.”

WBTA will also carry the Notre Dame girls basketball state semifinal game. Tip is scheduled for 10:45 am tomorrow.
