Genesee County overnight received another dusting of snow. Less than an inch has fallen in Batavia, but it is just enough to make highways slippery. Caution is advised to motorists traveling this morning. The forecast calls for another mostly cloudy day with cold temperatures and more snow flurries. You can expect a high today of only 25. 

An accident on route 20 in the town of Alexander early Saturday morning resulted in the arrest of the driver on several charges. 34 year old Erik Kendall of East Bethany was allegedly involved in a single car accident that broke off a telephone pole along route 20. After getting out of the car Kendall reportedly fled the scene and was tracked by Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies and found in the area. Kendall was charged with DWI, leaving the scene of a Property Damage Accident and with an unsafe lane change. He’ll appear in Alexander Town Court at a later date.

An Attica woman has been arrested for allegedly shoplifting at the Batavia K-Mart on Friday night. 52 year old Patricia Vogel of Exchange Street in Attica was detained by a K-Mart loss prevention associate and was found to have one hundred and twelve dollars worth of clothing and a book under her jacket. Vogel has been charged with Petit Larceny and was issued an appearance ticket for Batavia Town Court on March 14th.

A traffic stop for speeding led to the arrest of an Akron woman on felony DWI charges. 46 year old Suzanne Ryder of the South Newstead Road in Akron was stopped on Main Road in Pembroke late Friday night. While being questioned, it was determined she was intoxicated and charged with the felony DWI count. Ryder will appear in Town of Pembroke Court on March 28th.

The Batavia Blue Devils boy’s basketball team goes for the section V class B1 title today with a game against Newark at 3PM this afternoon at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. Bob Brown will have the play by play of the game starting just before 3 here on WBTA and Batavia will try to win their fifth overall Section V championship and their first since 2010.

Kendall yesterday failed to win the class C3 title as they were beaten soundly by Clyde-Savannah, 72-28 yesterday.

The Notre Dame girls rested yesterday after their 56 to 41 win over Romulus Friday night to earn the class D1 section five title. They will now play Mt. Morris tomorrow night at 7PM in Pavilion for the right to enter the Class D state tournament. Sloane Martin will have the play by play of tomorrow night’s game.
