An Orleans County teenager remains hospitalized in Buffalo following a two vehicle crash on Route 98 in Elba.
16-year-old Jessica Deskins of Holley is listed in stable condition at ECMC this morning.
The accident happened Saturday night.
Jessica was a front seat passenger in a car driven by 18 year-old Ashley Deskins. Ashley suffered minor injuries.
An infant in the car was taken to Women and Children’s Hospital in Buffalo also with minor injuries.
Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies said Ashley was traveling too fast for slippery conditions and crossed over into the opposite lane of Route 98 and struck an on-coming car.
That vehicle was operated by Gina Delelysof Elba. She was treated and released from UMMC in Batavia.
Deputies say charges are pending.
Today is a holiday for many.
It is President’s Day, the day we honor the first president and the 16th.
Schools, banks, government offices are closed today, and there will be no mail delivery.
Gun permit holders can now pick-up the so-called opt-out forms in Genesee County.
The form must be filed in 60 days in order to keep their gun permit information private.
The forms will be available at the Genesee County Clerk’s Office beginning tomorrow.
Some gun retailers may also have the forms.
If permit holders do not file the opt-out paperwork, information about their permits can be obtained by anyone under the state’s Freedom of Information Law.
U.S. Marshals tracked down and arrested sex offender Cara Dickey and her girlfriend in Chicago this weekend.
Dickey, a former South Buffalo Charter School teacher, was recently convicted of rape after she had sex with a 14-year-old student.
She had been on the run since she cut off her ankle monitor in January.
She was also arrested for prostitution in Chicago.
