UPDATE: Deputies release surveilance photos that may be suspect's car
A knife wielding bandit robbed a beauty supply store in Batavia Saturday morning, bound a female employee with duct tape and fled with cash from the store and the clerk.
Genesee County Sheriff’s Sergeant Greg Walker investigated the robbery at Sally Beauty Supply on Veterans Memorial Drive:
When the clerk at the store was preparing to open up a man walked in, wearing a mask and had a knife at his side, and
demanded the money out of the cash registers. He then walked the clerk to a back room where employees have their personal belongings and took money from her purse, Walker said"
Walker said the bandit told the unidentified clerk he would not hurt her, but the ordeal was freighting:
"After he got the money he ducked taped her hands behind her back and duct taped her feet and told her to stay put for five minutes. He said he wouldn't hurt her and after the five minutes she could make the call."
She used a pair of scissors to cut the tape and call for help.
The robber fled on foot, around the back of the store and toward the Clarion Hotel where deputies believe he may have had a car waiting.
He is described as a while male, 5-ft, 5-in tall, 130 to 140 pounds, wearing black.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office at 343-5000.
