Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a Leroy man in connection with an incident on January 11th on the Keeney Road in the Town of LeRoy. 54 year old Howard Schultz of Keeney Road in Leroy has been charged with two counts each of criminal possession o a weapon and illegal discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a residence. One of those charges stem from an incident on December 5th. Sheriff’s deputies originally responded to a report of shots fired on the Keeney road. Schultz allegedly has a felony conviction in the past which prohibits him from possession of firearms. In the December 5th charge, Schultz was allegedly hunting and in possession of a firearm.
It will be cold day in Genesee County with a little bit of snow at times today and a high temperature of 25. Yesterday Batavia recorded a high temperature of 25 and a low of 15, about 5 degrees below average for a February 2nd. It is expected to stay cold in the area at least through Wednesday. On Thursday temperatures could rise into the 30’s.
30 year old Shawn Klineline of Batavia was arrested in a traffic stop on East Main Street early this morning. Klineline was found to be in possession of a controlled substance which was not in its original container. He has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and with possession of a controlled substance not in is original container. Klineline will be arraigned later this month in Batavia City Court.
An East Aurora man has been charged with Felony DWI and four other motor vehicle chargers after being stopped on route 5 in the town of Pembroke. 30 year old Gary Woronowski when stopped by Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies was found to be intoxicated and with an open alcoholic container in the car. Woronowski will answer the charges in Pembroke Town Court on February 28th.
Albion police have arrested an Albion man on second degree assault charges. Police say 22 year old Domingo Candelaria of West Park Street went to a home on West State Street on Friday with the intent to confront a person. When he found that person not home, he assaulted another person personally known to him. Candelaria is in the Orleans County jail with bail set at one hundred thousand dollars.
A woman, 18 year old Maria Lopez of King Street in Albion was arrested on charges of Criminal Facilitation. Police say Lopez helped Candelaria in the assault.
Former President Bill Clinton will speak at Ed Koch's funeral Monday in Manhattan. A spokesman for Clinton says the former President is cutting short an overseas trip to be at the service. Former Mayor Koch died Friday at the age of 88.
