Rochester has broken a nearly four-decade-old weather record.
The National Weather Service says temperatures Wednesday morning hit 60 degrees, breaking the previous record for Jan. 30 of 55 degrees set in 1974.
Meteorologists say the warming trend was triggered by a large weather system coming in from the Gulf of Mexico.
Things are much different today – in fact, about 25 degrees different. Batavia is under a high-wind warning until 4 p.m. today. The National Weather Service says there could be periods of heavy bursts of snow with rates up to a half-inch per hour today. Combine that with wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph and visibility will be reduced at certain periods.
The organization says to exercise caution driving in the region and be prepared for rapid changes in visibility with blowing snow.
