The state Legislature will not get to ultimately chose where any new casinos in New York are built. 

Governor Cuomo has turned down requests from Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver for such a role, saying lawmakers will be part of shaping the state's casino and gambling policy, but ultimately it will be Cuomo's gaming commission who makes the final call on bid approval and sites. 

The governor did say lawmakers will have knowledge of where casinos will be built before they vote on the measure.
