New York's main firearm lobby is working to overturn Governor Cuomo's new gun control law.
The New York State Rifle and Pistol Association has filed a notice of claim, saying the new updated ban on assault weapons goes against the U.S. Constitution's Commerce Clause.
The group is likely to file a lawsuit over the matter in the coming days.
A Western New York attorney has already filed a lawsuit seeking to reverse what is considered the toughest gun law in the nation.
James Tresmond, on behalf of two plaintiffs, is suing Governor Cuomo, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, both State Senate leaders and the State Police Superintendent.
The suit was filed in State Supreme Court in Erie County Tuesday and will go before a judge on Feb. 21.
