After Governor Cuomo’s budget presentation, state politicians are weighing in.

Senate Republican Leader Dean Skelos says he won't rule out passing Governor Cuomo's budget with the governor's minimum wage increase attached to it.

Though Skelos notes that "anything can be taken out of the budget," he's not immediately turning down Cuomo's push to increase the minimum wage in the state from $7.25 to $8.75 an hour.

Skelos says it might be the right year to raise the minimum wage, but he'd also like to see more business tax credits, which he believes are effective in creating jobs.

Meanwhile, local Assemblyman Steve Hawley says the budget fails to address the “pressing” need for mandate relief and a “more equitable school aid program.”
