The Batavia Police Department has concluded an investigation regarding the death of William Hastings, who fell from a window of the housing complex at 400 East Main Street, Batavia in June of 2012.

The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office has classified the manner of the death as accidental,m according to the Batavia Police Department.

Toxicology testing completed by the Medical Examiner’s office determined Hastings had a very high level of medication in his system.

Police determined Hastings was alone in his apartment at the time of the incident. The investigation indicated that Hastings spent a large amount of his time at the window of his apartment, observing the parking lot area to the east of the housing complex.

The investigation also revealed Hastings had a habit of abusing cough medication.

Hastings fell from the seventh story at the 400 Towers building on June 12. He was 52.
