Two inmates are facing felony charges when they were housed at Attica Correctional Facility.
Gamalier Rivera, 44, is charged with promoting prison contraband and criminal possession of a weapon – both felonies. Rivera was allegedly found in possession of an edged metal weapon. He is currently housed at Auburn Correctional Facility serving a sentence for felony robbery and assault charges out of Queens.
Also, 40-year-old Eduardo Velasquez is charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and promoting prison contraband. In November of 2012, Velasquez allegedly smuggled and possessed multiple balloons of heroin and marijuana inside his body during an inmate visitation. Housed at Attica Correctional Facility, he is currently serving time for attempted murder and drug charges out of Kings County, New York.
Both inmates were arraigned on the charges and returned to the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections. They are scheduled to return to Wyoming County Court to further answer the charges.
An Alexander man is facing assault and harassment charges for allegedly getting into a fight at a restaurant in Wyoming County.
Joshua Ebersole, 26, is accused of punching a 25-year-old woman in the stomach during an argument and then punching and head butting a 24-year-old man who tried to intervene. The incident took place at Letchworth Pines Bar and Restaurant on Saturday.
Ebersole was remanded to Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
An order of protection was issued for both of the victims.
A 20-year-old Batavia woman is facing a petity larceny and felony grand larceny charge.
Sharnice Gibson of East Avenue allegedly shoplifted merchandise from K-Mart in Batavia and also allegedly stole property from another person's possession.
Gibson was issued an appearance ticket to appear in Town of Batavia Court Feb. 4.
