Support continues to pour in for the Webster fire department following the deadly shooting of two firefighters on Christmas Eve. Firefighters have been collecting donations in memory of their two colleagues who were gunned down when responding to a blaze. West Webster Volunteer Fire officials say they have been overwhelmed with hundreds of letters and gifts on a daily basis from around the country in the wake of the tragedy.
Meanwhile, an online petition is gaining momentum to award Medals of Freedom to the deceased firefighters and two more who were injured. The petition needs 25,000 signatures by Jan. 27 to be considered by the Obama Administration. It currently has just over 5,000. The petition can be found here.
