New York is one step closer to being the most energy efficient state in the nation.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the launching of an executive order directing state agencies to increase energy efficiency by 20 percent in seven years.
It’s an ambitious demand, but one that the governor’s office says will save millions of dollars for taxpayers and create thousands of jobs while reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
To help the state meet the goal, the administration is setting up Build Smart NY – a strategic implementation plan that will use state energy data to prioritize projects that will deliver the greatest energy savings per dollar spent.
