The State University of New York is doing its part to help victims of Hurricane Sandy within its system.
The Board of Trustees has adopted a resolution authorizing college presidents to refund tuition to students forced to drop out because of Sandy.
Students withdrawing from either or both the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters due to hardships associated from the Superstorm, can receive their tuition back since college presidents in the state system have permission to waive tuition liability.
SUNY regulations already provide for hardship withdrawal, but usually only before the midpoint of the academic term. The hurricane hit at the end of October which is after the midpoint of the fall term.
