A Batavia High School Senior was killed in a two car crash early last night on route 33 just east of the intersection of route 237 in the town of Stafford. 17 year old Collin Crane was driving westbound on route 33 when for some unknown reason his car drifted into the east bound lane and struck another vehicle head on. The driver of the other car, Carmen Vega of LeRoy was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with a severe leg injury. State Police officer Sgt, Samuel Tagilenti says Vega tried to avoid the accident, but that the two cars hit head on. Collin Crane was pronounced dead at the scene by a county coroner.

It will be another dreary day in the Batavia area, weather wise. The forecast is for cloudy skies today with rain developing around sunset this afternoon. The high will be about 40. Yesterday we reached a high of 48 degrees with a low of 35 and twelve hundredths of an inch of rain.
26 year old Justin Wotherspoon of Gibson Street in Oakfield has been charged with driving while ability was impaired by Drugs, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, and Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance. He allegedly was operating his motor vehicle in an erratic manner from Batavia to Oakfield on Route 63. He was arrested outside his residence yesterday afternoon after Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies received called about an erratic drivier.
17 year old Brandon Benz of Clinton Street Road in Batavia has been charged with Criminal Contempt. He allegedly posted a threatening message about a victim on his facebook page after being served an order of protection. He’s in jail with bail set at 750 dollars.
23 year old Anthony Dibble of the Bethany Center Road in Bethany has been charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Harassment. According to Sheriff’s Deputies, Dibble allegedly kicked in the door to another person’s apartment and entered without permission. He also allegedly destroyed a bathroom door and struck two other subjects during an altercation. He is jail with bail set at 25 hundred dollars.
Two persons were arrested in an incident on the Martin Road in the Town of Alabama yesterday. 24 year old Jeffrey Johnson of Farnsworth Avenue in Oakfield and 22 year old Lauren Peters of the Martin Road have been charged with Endangering the welfare of a child, criminal possession of a controlled substance and with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument. Both were allegedly supervising a child at the time of the incident.
21 year old Nathaniel Beglinger of Peaviner Road in Alexander has been charged by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department with Reckless Driving and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. The accident occurred on December first at the Johnny Bear Restaurant on Broadway Road in Darien. Beglinger allegedly struck the Restaurant and fled the scene.
The Batavia City council will hold a Business and a Conference Meeting on Monday night. The meeting starts at 7PM in the Council board Room on the second floor of the Batavia City Centre. The public may speak at the meeting by signing in with the City Clerk prior to the start of the meeting.
The Long Island Rail Road plans to operate its first full-service rush hour since Hurricane Sandy on Monday. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the LIRR will be able to operate full morning and evening rush hour service as a result of Amtrak restoring the signal system capacity in one of its flood-ravaged East River tunnels.
