The first game for the merged Batavia/Alexander high school hockey program resulted in a 3-0 loss against Irondequoit Saturday at Falleti Ice Arena.
Trevor Rarick recorded 23 saves for the 0-1 team. They next play Gates-Chili at Genesee Valley Ice Rink Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Alexander has never had a hockey team in school history. The teams announced the merger in October as Batavia was facing a shortage of players.
