It’s a first for the Catholic Church – the Pope is on twitter.
Pope Benedict XVI joined the social networking site today, but officials say he won’t send out a 140-character tweet until Dec. 12. His handle is @pontifex which means “pope” and “bridge builder.”
He will be tweeting about spiritual matters including content from his homilies, Sunday blessings and more. Vatican officials say the tweets will be his own words.
