Last Friday, we told you about a unique holiday gift idea of the Empire Passport. On Cyber Monday, the State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation was offering year-long, all-access passes to hundreds of State Parks and other sites for $40, discounted from $65.
Officials say that in the one-day sale almost 23,000 passes were sold – a 5,000percent increase from 2011 Cyber Monday sales.
Governor Cuomo says this is an indication of how popular parks and historic sites are as destinations in the state.
The Cyber Monday sale resulted in over $905,000 in revenue. Last year 443 Empire Passports were sold on Cyber Monday.
