New York Senator Charles Schumer is calling for steps to be taken to keep cell phone service running during emergencies.
Schumer is calling on the Federal Communication Commission to require cell phone service providers to maintain emergency power at cell tower sites to keep service during storms and floods. Schumer says during Sandy many New Yorkers were left not just in the dark with no power, but completely cut off because of cell service disruptions.
