Right now, all watches and warnings have been pulled from Genesee County. A High Wind Warning and Flood Watch were in effect from 5pm yesterday until noon today.
The online power outage map indicates that fewer than 10 customers are without power in Genesee County as of noon Tuesday. National Grid Spokesperson Steve Brady says the company was more-than-prepared for Hurricane Sandy, but he’s relieved we were fortunate.
“Let me just put it this way: we were prepared for far worse," he said. "I’m never sorry when it doesn’t happen. We still have lots of customers out though, so we remain focused on getting them restored. Clearly this could have been a much more severe impact than it was.”
Brady says National Grid is dealing with spot outages and is trying to repair any wires or poles. He expects Western New York to be fully restored by later tonight or tomorrow at the latest.
As always, make sure not to touch anything that looks like a wire. Just call National Grid for assistance.
