First-time claims for unemployment benefits are down sharply in the U.S….except for New York.
The Labor department says that 30,000 fewer people filed for unemployment benefits this week for a total of 339,000 Americans.
However, New York experienced one of the sharpest increases in first-time claims.
Some states with the more dramatic decreases were Mississippi, Michigan, Florida, Ohio, and Oregon.
