A series of incidents Tuesday morning in Batavia has led to the arrest of 41-year-old Martin Jones of Jackson Street.
Jones allegedly was operating a car that struck a 28-year-old sign at Settler’s restaurant on West Main Street around 2 AM. He then fled the scene and struck a car at the Hess Station. Jones was finally captured on State Street after his car became inoperable and he tried to flee on foot.
Jones has been charged with felony DWI, leaving the scene of an accident and a slew of other traffic charges.
It was also discovered that there were outstanding arrest warrants for Jones on charges of disorderly conduct and falsely reporting an incident.
Settler's co-owner John Spyropoulos said the sign, which has already been removed from the property, is damaged beyond repair and will need to be replaced.
