Village of LeRoy Police have released the identification of the man who was found to possess an explosive homemade grenade during a routine traffic stop in LeRoy yesterday.
26-year-old Paul Kaiser of East Aurora has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of marijuana and various traffic offenses.
Kaiser’s car was stopped on Route 19 in LeRoy Monday morning for allegedly speeding.
During that traffic stop and subsequent vehicle search, the officer noticed a live homemade explosive device in the trunk.
Nearby roads were shutdown for two hours and eight houses were evacuated.
Kaiser was remanded to Genesee County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
