In the police beat today…
An inmate is facing several charges, including promoting prison contraband.
31-year-old Shakin Gordon was found to possess multiple latex and plastic wrapped items of heroin and marijuana. He is also facing charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Gordon was arraigned on the charges in Wyoming County Court and released back to the custody of Department of Corrections personnel.
Gordon is currently serving a sentence for criminal sale of a controlled substance, burglary and grand larceny.
Two Batavia men are facing charges for fighting.
21-year-old Michael Elmore and 46-year-old Clifford Schultz are facing disorderly conduct charges after police were sent to a disturbance call on Bank Street.
Schultz was charged after he allegedly threw a punch and struck another person. Elmore was charged after he was observed in possession of a baseball bat.
Both men will answer to the charges at a later date.
An Erie County man charged with stealing baby formula and diapers from a LeRoy store last week now faces an additional charge.
23-year-old Edward Clark was charged with petit larceny Saturday. He allegedly stole baby formula and an energy drink from the Target store in Batavia on July 30.
In the incident last week, Clark was arrested after allegedly stealing about 700-hundred dollars worth of baby formula and two packages of diapers.
It is believed Clark was stealing the baby formula and diapers to sell them for cash.
Clark was arraigned Saturday in Batavia Town Court. Clark had already been jailed for last Monday's incident.
