Genesee County’s Prescription Drug Take-Back Day was Saturday and the results are in: this time, fewer drugs were turned in.
In April a drop-off station in Batavia collected 344 pounds of drugs. Saturday it collected about 200 pounds.
Law enforcement that the lower numbers are encouraging because it means that people have been and continue to take advantage of the events and simply have fewer excess medications to turn over.
Event organizers will host another Take-Back Day in the Spring. But unused prescription drugs and sharps can be returned any time at a deposit box at the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.
