Governor Cuomo has signed a bill which would allow the Department of Motor Vehicles to indicate whether the holder of a driver’s license or identification card is a veteran.
Many businesses provide discounts to veterans. The law will make it easier for them to show their status as veterans without having to carry multiple forms of identification.
Applicants would have to provide proof that they were honorably discharged from the armed forces in order to qualify.
The law will take effect in one year.
