The superintendent of the Warsaw Central School District has resigned.
Valerie Burke turned in her resignation last night during a special meeting of the Warsaw Board of Education
The vote to accept Burke’s resignation followed a 90-minute Executive Session.
A week ago, the board learned that Burke had been arrested for drunk driving last year in Rochester. At the time, her blood alcohol count was reported at .15, nearly twice the legal limit.
The Warsaw Board of Ed has named elementary school principal Steven Saxton interim superintendent.

A plot of pot has been spotted in Perry.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection Pilots were on a routine flight when they saw the plants from the air and alerted the Wyoming County Sheriff Deputies.
Officers seized 129 plants …most over 6 feet tall. 
The estimated street value was pegged at $75,000.

Genesee County’s unemployment rate dropped in the latest figures from the state labor department.
The county’s jobless rate for August stood at 7.1 percent…down from 7.4-percent in July.
Wyoming County’s unemployment rate improved by more than a half point, but in Orleans County, the jobless rate held steady at 11.3 percent.

The Holiday Inn franchise name has returned to Batavia.
A Holiday Inn Express and Suites opened yesterday at the Batavia exit of the thruway. 
The four story hotel was built on the site of the former Ambassador Conference Center.
The 72-room, 30-suite hotel has an indoor pool and fitness center.
