A Hamlin man was seriously injured in an accident on Bloomingdale Road in Basom Thursday morning. A pickup truck driven by 22-year old Charles Scorse burst into flames after it crashed into a garbage truck around 8 o’clock.
State Police said Scorse was on his way to buy cigarettes at the Tonawanda Indian Reservation when he hit the garbage truck.
Scorse was taken to ECMC by mercy flight with life threatening injuries; the waste management driver was not injured. Troopers said Scorse fell asleep at the wheel.
