An air quality alert is in effect for all of Western New York until 11p.m. Friday night. The State DEC has issued the warning, because the recent warm weather has raised pollution levels within the air.
Meteorologist Tom Paone is with the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
“The main concern there is that people that have respiratory problems elderly people maybe sometimes even very young children, could be more susceptible to the effects of the o-zone, it could cause a breathing problem, so the recommendation is that if you are susceptible to this kind of thing it’s best to probably limit the time you spend outdoors, or if you have to be outdoors try not to do a lot of strenuous physical activities,” Paone said.
Paone said this weekend is expected to be warm and sunny in the 80’s, but he denies recent reports that this weekend will be the hottest weekend yet.
