1 1/3 to 7 years in prison is how long a Batavia woman will serve for stealing from two elderly women she cared for. 40-year old Heidi Schollard was sentenced in Genesee County Court Friday afternoon.
Schollard pled guilty to stealing $300-thousand from one of her victims and $100-thousand from another and wrongfully receiving unemployment benefits back in May.
Guardians for both of her elderly victims made statements in court Friday. They described Schollard as manipulative, remorseless, a chronic liar, a relentless predator and deceitful.
Schollard wrote a letter to the asking for a reduced sentence. Judge Robert Noonan said the letter did nothing, but make her look worse.
He said it did the opposite of what she was trying to accomplish, it only proved that she was "self-centered and narcissistic" Noonan said all he got from the letter was that she didn’t even get what she did was wrong.
Noonan said this case only proves that there really are people out there trying to take advantage of the elderly. Schollard was also ordered to pay over $334-thousand in restitution.
