A sinkhole sweeps away part of a roadway in Albion. Crews worked through the night to fill a sinkhole that took out a 30-foot chunk of Eagle Harbor Road along the Erie Canal Monday.
Officials said the hole nearly collapsed the wall that holds back the canal. The Orleans County Highway Department has temporarily filled the sinkhole to prevent the area from flooding.
They report that the situation is now in the hands of canal authorities. The cause of the sinkhole is still unknown.
